In a city as diverse as Beirut, accommodation options are endless. 5-star chains, boutique hotels, Airbnb and homestays are all available.

On your search, consider O Monot Boutique Hotel.

A relative newcomer, O Monot Hotel opened in 2014. Independently owned and operated, O Monot Hotel offers laidback sophistication in a central location.

Let’s take a look inside.

First Impressions.

You’ll find the hotel on Monot Street in Saifi (on the border of Ashrafieh).

A stylish lobby and lounge greet guests as they check into this 41 room boutique hotel.

Designed by Interior Architect Claude Missir, function plays as much of a role as sensory pleasure. Neutral shades are enhanced by accents of amethyst throughout the property.

Dine in the 10th-floor restaurant all day with views of Downtown and the Mediterranean Sea. Sink into Chesterfields in front of an open fire during winter with cocktails in hand.

From sharing platters to traditional Lebanese cuisine and pub favourites, the restaurant has an option for everyone.

Start your day with a breakfast spread of western and Lebanese dishes. Eggs, the way you like them, are prepared to order accompanied by big breakfast must-haves; mushrooms, bacon, tomatoes and foul – a dish made from broad beans or chickpeas.

In winter, remain by the open fire in the restaurant lounge. In the warmer months ascend to the rooftop and enjoy cocktails by the pool.

With unobstructed scenic views through glass barriers, capture the eclectic architecture of Beirut. Poolside dining is also available.

If you’re meeting friends or business associates, the ground floor lobby lounge serves coffee and cocktails all day.

Take a stool at the bar and grill the staff for entertainment and sightseeing recommendations, or commandeer an alcove for private conversations.

The rooftop pool has a sunlounger with your name on it. Grab your book or take a power nap while soaking up some vitamin D.

The pool attracts hotel guests and locals on weekends for sundowners and private events.

A modest fitness centre helps control the possible excess baggage from Beirut’s delicious cuisine.

For the business traveller, a private meeting room is available on the 9th floor. Seating 15 with catering arranged by the hotel, this is a perfect place for negotiations and presentations.

Located across the road, the very chic Saifi Village is an upscale art & design district. Traditional in character, offering a contemporary concept in one convenient location.

Local and international boutique designers join art galleries, speciality concept stores, restaurants and cafés.

At Saifi Village call into Bokja, design duo Huda Baroudi and Maria Hibri’s repurposed upcycled home store.

Gathering textiles throughout Central Asia and MENA, their designs are a reflection of Beirut, a complex layering opposing contemporary minimalism and revelling in “more is more”.

With yoga studios, hair salons and beauty rooms, an entire day can be spent at Saifi Village.

O Monot Boutique Hotel’s entry-level Deluxe rooms are a good size at almost 30 sqm. Decorated with chic neutrals and amethyst accents, lighting, storage and the workstation are well designed.

Executive rooms provide a little more space at 33 sqm and suites with walk-in wardrobes, lounge and dining areas range from 53 – 68 sqm.

All room categories include an all-important Nespresso coffee machine with complimentary daily pods. A well-stocked mini-bar and snacks keep the wolf from the door if you choose a night in and there’s room service, of course.

The Verdict.

Service from the front door to the rooftop bar is friendly yet unobtrusive. Nothing is too much trouble and for directions, entertainment suggestions and Beirut highlights, staff offer inside information.

The owner pops in to chat with guests and keeps an eye on things. At his own admission, O Monot Boutique Hotel is his baby. A phoenix rising from the ashes of an abandoned building.
