Dubai Dining: Intersect by Lexus!
Japanese Interior Designer, Masamichi Katayama of Wonderwall is behind the concept of Intersect by Lexus. Creating a space between work and home to #eat #drink #explore & #shop, his intention is “for the customer to feel the Lexus brand without actually sitting behind the steering wheel”.
Known for his attention to detail, Katayama’s Intersect by Lexus design is unlike any other Dubai restaurant.
Are you ready for something a little different?
#explore
On entering, Masamichi Katayama’s interior makes an immediate impression. The basement gallery showcases a Lexus supercar, bamboo moulded walls replicate the Lexus Spindle Grille and lighting features draw the eye to the sculpted ceiling.
Once seated on the banquette (covered in the same leather used for the LSA supercar seats), other features emerge. Stylised units display books on fashion, photography, film and food. A marble bar is backed by a global landscape of iconic buildings. Even walking to the washroom becomes a sensory journey.
If you know Dubai, then you’ll know the weekend brunch is an institution and although Intersect by Lexus joins 90% of Dubai in offering brunch on Friday, they’ve broken the mould with an additional brunch on Wednesday Evenings. At AED 175 for the soft package and AED 250 for the booze package, Intersect by Lexus also represents terrific value.
#eat
The whole foods weighted menu begins at the salad bar and on our visit comprised of 6 incredibly tasty options. No run of the mill green salad here.
Starters are staggered so as not to overwhelm and reordering favourites is encouraged. With 9 starters, mains to order & 4 desserts to completely finish you off, think carefully before reordering. 😉
Things are beginning to get serious. A little stretching may be required, perhaps a belt notch loosened. That’s right, it’s time to order mains.
Other options: Beef Flank with Brussel Sprouts Purée & Roasted Cauli; Mushroom & Barley Risotto with Sour Cream; Grilled Prawn with Heirloom Tomatoes & Romesco Sauce; Mograbiah (pasta) with Vegetables & Tomato Sauce.
Who can resist Dessert?
#drink
Aperol Spritz & Aperol Negronis are the evening’s cocktails, An Argentinian Pinot Grigio covers the white wine and an Italian Ronchetti, the red. There’s Whisk(e)y, Vodka & Gin; Asahi is the brew of choice, organic teas & coffee and fresh juices. The range isn’t wide but it has everything needed to compliment this excellent dining experience.
#shop
In the basement gallery, there might be paintings, leather goods, sunglasses or books to buy. Exhibitions, book and product launches have all been held here so keep an eye on their Facebook page for exhibition dates and upcoming events.

What a wonderful experience you have shared with us, it looks and sounds like something worth doing, will put it on my list !
Wow! Love the concept and this innovative idea behind it! I guess I could spend hours in there, checking out all the decorations and food options! Such a cool place!
The attention to detail was amazing, Anna. As the evening wore on we noticed more and more aspects. A very cool concept. 🙂
Well, I just ate and your post made me hungry again. Everything looks so good!
It was Elena, I could easily do it all over again. 😉
Wow, this is such a beautiful and unique place and the food looks delicious. I would def. go if I were in Dubai. Thanks for sharing!
It was well worth it, Secret Traveller! 🙂
Really a unique and innovative concept in Dining. The Lexus theme combines elegance with the flamboyance of the Lexus Brand. The food looks seamlessly blended with the ambience too.
Beautifully said Sandy N Vyjay, and I must agree! 🙂
Wow! The design of Intersect is just a visual overload. Think I would forget all about food and drink, getting caught up looking around. Dubai does it again.
There is certainly a cool vibe happening at Intersect by Lexus, David. It would be interesting to compare Dubai’s with the first in Tokyo and the next one to open in NYC mid-year for any design differences. Note to self: must do that! 🙂
The food and surroundings look lovely. I always like to discover unique places to eat out too. Also good to know that it doesn’t cost a fortune to dine at ‘Intersect by Lexus’ either. Nice informative post!
Cheers Raymond! We love a concept that can deliver on quality without breaking the bank. 🙂
I think I’d choose the 250 Dirham booze brunch package. The food you’ve photographed looks delicious, I’ve been in the situation where a belt needs to be loosened before. For the drink I’d choose a vodka with a fruit juice, if there was passion fruit to mix with it that would be perfect, if not a fresh orange juice.
The booze package is definitely the winner James! I’m certain they have fresh OJ, but not sure on the passion fruit. Watermelon is pretty good with Vodka too! ?
I can only imagine how expensive this is! The marble bar and the wall of mini Lexus’ are pretty neat though.
It looks like it could be Thrifty Trails, but the price was a pleasant surprise. It was almost half of what some establishments in Dubai charge without the quirky concept. Well worth a try if you are in Dubai. 🙂
Looks fantastic and what a great concept! Wouldn’t associate a car manufacturer with such great food! great idea and must have been a fantastic experience! Thanks for sharing
We were a bit dubious about the concept too, Alexei, but they had us at ease in minutes. It was great! 🙂
Intersect looks very cool, I’m now hungry!! thanks for sharing your tips 🙂
It was a fantastic experience, Garth. Cheers! 🙂
Well this is a unique one, especially the interior. Looks all very delicious too! Amazing that it was very affordable. Hope to visit one day and dine in the cool places.
We were amazed too, Lisa. There are so many restaurants in Dubai relying on a view or a celebrity chef endorsement to justify their exorbitant prices rather than focusing on the full experience. Intersect by Lexus almost transports you out of Dubai for a moment and doesn’t send you into financial ruin in the process. LOL! 😉
Dubai is a crazy place and has loads of interesting things tucked away. I love the concept of taking eating to a whole new dimension. My favoured is the matchbox cars – it reminds me of when I used to collect them as a kid.
Dubai is certainly that, Barry. I loved the matchbox cars too, but even the washrooms were designed impeccably! 😀
Never read food related posts when hungry! I always break that rule. 😉 it all looks so yummy and this place is super coo. The interior design looks so very interesting and the matchbox car wall would have kept me entertained for hours, trying to spot which ones I had a as child 😉
Oh, I agree, Sam. No foodie posts on an empty belly. Masamichi Katayama is designing the new look NYC Deisel flagship store reopening mid-year. It’ll be interesting to see the design features he decides on for the Italian denim brand. 🙂
This is an interesting place, I love the Lexus wall and the food looks amazing, especially the baby squid with sweet corn and puffed rice. I would love to go there on day.
Yes, it was all fab, Oana. The floor under the supercar is glass and filled with tyre rims, carburettors, lots of other weird car parts, all painted white to work in with the design. It’s certainly an experience. 🙂
What an interesting place to visit! The food does look amazing and it’s all presented in such an inviting way, I would definitely sample the evening’s cocktails 😀 #feetdotravel
The Aperol cocktails were fab, Angie, and the wine of a high standard. I was very happy with this Dubai find. 🙂
All of that food looked incredible, even the salads! Especially the ginger coconut panna cotta. I would love to go there one day. Love it! #feetdotravel
Sadly it’s not dog-friendly, Scarlett but I’ll keep my eye out for any other Dubai foodie experiences you could enjoy. 😉
Intersect looks amazing! The tasty food and Marble Bar looks fabulous. I will pin this for later use. There are some Expat Ladies I know who would love to eat here. Thanks for sharing 🙂 #feetdotravel
I’d love to hear what you or your friends think of it, Stephanie. It’s certainly an experience. 🙂
Wow thats different! How do you eat 9 starters plus the rest, though cool concept would definitely have a go! #feetdotravel
I know, 9 starters is a lot and by the end, we could definitely feel it, but the experience was so good we had to do it! 😉
I just happened to check out your post right around lunch time – now I’m starving for all this yummy goodness! What a great experience and delicious looking food!
The experience was excellent, Jenn. Food and service were impeccable and I could do it all over again! 🙂
It looks amazing! And I’m so hungry right now! O_O
Haha! I agree, Midori. The presentation was just as good as the flavours! 🙂
What a cool and unique concept! I think the Marble Bar is my favorite. Thanks for recapping this – I’d love to experience it for myself.
The marble bar is cool. I like it a lot too.
IBL has had mixed reviews over the past year so I had to try it for myself. The food, drinks, service, everything was excellent so they deserved some positive feedback. I was also surprised at how affordable it was. For that quality in most of Dubai’s restaurants I would have expected it to be at least 50% more. Overall it was a great experience.
I hope you get to try it one day, Diana. If you can’t make it to Dubai, there’s one in Tokyo and another opening in NYC mid year. ?
